About Ken "Kenny G"
Gines
Failure is Not an Option
They say adversity is often times life’s best teacher. I
agree. The best education I ever got was not in a
classroom or in a book. It was a family tragedy.
Born in Puerto Rico, I was fortunate enough to live in
very comfortable surroundings. We owned a big, beautiful
house with a huge yard and maid quarters. Those were
happy times for the Gines family.
But, all of that changed in a single night when a freak
accident broke up my family and left us destitute. It
was harder on my parents than me because I was a young,
resilient kid. After my parents divorced, my mom raised
me on a legal secretary’s meager salary. I’ll never
forget the sound of the typewriter clacking away at
night as I went to sleep. But, she believed – and now I
share her belief – that homeownership was an American
duty. And, after years of working and saving, she bought
a house on that tiny salary. And, she taught me to do
the same.
As the oldest child, I suddenly – at the age of six –
became the head of household. While my friends were out
playing after school, I was learning how to fix leaky
roofs, paint, cut grass, and even mix and pour cement.
Yes, that’s right – a six-year-old helping pour cement.
Sure, life
was difficult at times, but it wasn’t a
tragedy to me.
It was an opportunity. |
My uncle was a carpenter, and my
cousins spent our weekends helping build his house. I’ll
never forget helping my cousins mix a huge mountain of
sand, gravel, and cement with shovels. We did this every
weekend for two full months, and what resulted was a
house that was the envy of the entire neighborhood. Even
at that young an age, I experienced the pride of a job
well done. That feeling propels me to this very day.
Anyone who knows me will tell you I am driven beyond
belief. I love real estate sales for so many different
reasons –homeownership represents both human and
monetary currency.
Following in my mother’s footsteps, my wife and I
started with a humble condo in Waikiki and now own
several homes. I would like to show you how to do it
too.
Even though English was my second language, the language
that I specialize in is Real Estate. I strive to make
home ownership possible for our kamaaina, visitors and
military families.
Be assured
that I will help you make your most
valuable asset work for you. |
Building relationships with my clients
is much like building a home - a rock-solid foundation
makes for a lifetime of trust and friendship.
